Our oldest daughter continues to amaze us! She blew us away last spring performing in her high school’s production of West Side Story the role of Maria. This year, she played the part of a completely different personality…that of Amber von Tussle in the musical, Hairspray. We enjoyed watching her transform from her usual sweet, kind, brunette self into a cruel, mean, self-aggrandizing platinum blonde!
The entire cast was stocked with talent throughout! But our eyes were usually locked onto our daughter. Perhaps due to her magnetic stage presence. Or maybe because the platinum blonde wig she wore created a halo effect with the stage lighting. Or maybe, just maybe, it was ’cause she was our daughter.
And we couldn’t have been more proud.
Congratulations!! SHE is a STAR!!!
Ah, what a beautiful memory this will be. She’s lovely!
And I second all that, but it isn’t because I am her grandfather. She really is a gifted young woman, inside and out.
Well I’m not her Grandfather, but all you said is true.
Grandfathers AND Grandmothers are ALWAYS right!!!!
Yes, indeed.
There’s nothing quite like watching your kid on the stage. Catherine was amazing in Hairspray. I can’t wait to see what she does with her life! Thinking of you all as the “countdown” to Graduation begins! It’s an intense and emotional time.
Fabulous! Both your daughter and your sketch!
Love the sketch! She sure looks happy in it. Of course you watched your daughter! When I go to my granddaughter’s ballet recital I tend to watch for her! They are only young for a little while and unless they make the performing arts their career, the opportunity to see them perform doesn’t last long. Is Maddie still braving the removal of the shunt for gymnastics?
She sure is! You have a great memory! She only removes it on days she knows they are doing “bars”. She says it doesn’t bother her on the other apparatii, like beam, trampoline, tumbling, etc. She’s a real trroper, we like to say. Thanks for asking!
It is a wonderful page of a special night. I love the looseness of colour and splatter. It is a fun page
What a wonderful experience for all of you! Your painting of her is beautiful! nancy
Thanks so much, Alissa, Nancy and all of you!
