This is a really fine post, Jennifer. I love your energy and verve! and yes, I’ve taught this approach, too, since I often explain to classes that what they think is the whole of drawing is often merely rendering, which is just one approach to it.

    • jenpedwards says:

Thank you Liz! I think we really need to “preach” this…that drawing is SO much more than the one method of rendering. Thanks for reading along and commenting!

Oh my. Another very inspired/in-spirit-ed post. I can not wait to share with you how very personally moving and encouraging your words and drawings/paintings in today’s lesson are for me… and did I mention amazingly timely!? Sometimes one doesn’t realize they are ‘stuck’ until someone one comes along to nudge them free. Much gratitude.

    • jenpedwards says:

And sometimes, one knows one is stuck, and a friend comes along and nudges her free…all gratitude back at you my friend Teresa.

Oh, there you go again! 🙂 You write in such a way that it’s an invitation to try new stuff! You made me so curious about Nicolaides book and I managed to get it all the way here to Brazil…. I just started to swim in its pages and now… I want to have Aimone`s book also! Again and again, when I read your posts, I think: that’s it! That’s what I was looking for! You know what? Great I found you! Thanks for showing so many interesting and inspiring stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the best!

This is a great lesson and one I should really play with since I don’t tend to play as a norm. I will look up this book. I enjoyed the I sh and Dot books. I even told myself when working on a drawing yesterday for a class I am taking that I had spent enough time putsying around – it was “ish” and I put down my pencils and scanned it into my computer!
I noticed something looking like crayons in one of your paintings here. I am going to go find mine. That sounds like fun!

    Hi,
I came across your blog by a random co-incidence and just wanted to say that I especially loved this particular posting – so inspirational! I am trying to “free” myself in my art work at the moment, so will definitely try some of your suggestions – so exciting! Your results are fantastic and make me smile so much. Thank you for posting your art adventures 🙂
