I have to brag a bit…my oldest daughter has made something incredible for her Environmental Science Project. They were to make an ABC Book of Science terms and put it into a scrapbook. She opted to make her own cover, pictured above. She used lovely papers, as seen here on the front.
…and recycled papers from shopping bags on the back and inside covers. I loved how she left the handle of the Starbucks bag (glued as the inside of both the front and back covers) as a way to carry the scrapbook.
Then she used her own photographs as examples of the different scientific terms. This last photo is of our back yard pond…lovely.
And, of course, she made lots of terrific drawings! I just adore seeing her bent over my drawing table with ‘her favorite’ set of Fabre Castell watercolor pencils. She’s quite an artist, don’t you think?
She even included a pic of the rest of the family as an example of “Replacement Level Fertility”. Ha! I asked her why she was not to be in the photo…? She then proceeded to explain the meaning of Replacement Level Fertility. Well, let’s just say, that my husband and I have replaced ourselves + 1. How funny!
I was disappointed to see the book go to school today. Seems a shame for her not to be able to have it. She says her teacher will likely keep it. I think if I were her teacher, I’d keep it also to show future students what standard they have to live up to!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! That is an A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++, I can just picture the teacher in a big hat writing +’s on the wall all the way around the room! 😉
Apparently, Cheryl, the teacher did something like that…swooning around the room showing it to everyone in the class and any who were outside the room, such as the principal, no less! She received a 110% on it! Totally deserved it!

Very nice book. She should be quite proud of herself. I hope the teacher returns the book to her. Did she scan it into the computer so she’d at least have pictures of the whole book forever? I see you’ve got some of it at least as you’ve posted these pics. Kids should get to have the work they did. What about copyright or doesn’t it apply to kids? I remember making a papier mache cow back in 4th grade which I never got to have. I sure didn’t like that they kept it but I have a very strong sense of what is mine so perhaps I am making too big a deal here. It just shows that she put lots of hours into this and should get to have it to show her own kids someday!
It’s a wonderful book and well worth keeping. It would be nice if the teacher gave her the choice of “donating” it to the school or taking it home to keep. nancy
