With her palette of blushes, eye and lip colors, my 5 year old neice looked searchingly at my face and said, “Now let’s see…”
She commenced to giving me about 5 different layers of lip color and liner, two shades of blue and green blush which she carefully blended, and a trio of bright blue, purple and pink for my eyes. Fifteen or twenty minutes later, she placed both of her hands on either side of my face, assessing her work, and finally pronounced, “That’s just right!”
The tender exchange of of this young artist to my blank canvas face, made me wonder…If a child paints your face in rainbow colors…is it because she sees you this way, in bright happy colors?
I like to think so.
You never know what a trip to the beach with your husband’s family will bring. π
I LOVE this!!! I remember that my mom used to let us put makeup on her. She doesn’t wear much makeup now, due to skin sensitivities that she’s developed, but she used to have a huge bag of makeup and I used to take her stick of cream blush (do you remember that stuff?) and give her big circles of color on her cheeks, like a clown. And she would sit there so patiently, just like you’re doing in the picture above. Thanks for reminding me of a wonderful memory!
(And you look beautiful, as always!)
Thank you Amanda! I’m glad it reminded you of those memories. It was a sweet memory for me.
made me smile … what a wonderful interpretation
It was a sweet time. I think this might become my next Fb profile…ME, theway a child sees me.:) Thanks, as always, for visiting and commenting, Cat!
Oh Yes—do show your FB profile as she sees you!! A picture from a young unprejudiced mind….
Wonderful….I relate completely….makes me miss my 6 yr old grandaughter….
I love this :-).
Love it!! I used to “make up” my mom’s face and hair. I always used to wonder why she would wash off the makeup and take down the hair. I thought it was perfect!!
Thanks Sheri! I wore the makeover through the evening, but washed my face before sleeping. There was so much color, I would have gottenit all over the pillowcase! π
What a sweet idea! She must have been so proud of her work. You were so nice to wear the beauty makeover all evening.
