No Place Like Home

I long to travel…but my life does not allow for much more than a day trip away, maybe two, to visit family usually.  During this time of year especially, I long to see France, and not just on the tele watching the Tour de France.  Painting and drawing do wonders for making me see the beauty that is literally in my own yard.  To flip through years of sketches and paintings made of scenes just out my front door or in my back yard remind me that I live a beautiful life.

This is the side of our neighbor’s house (the view from sitting in my driveway)…a neighbor whom we dearly love and enjoy. We have  sweet friends on just about every street in our subdivision.  One day, I fully  expect and hope to see France, perhaps England and Italy too.  But unless I live there for a length of time, I won’t have the relationships and connection to what I’m painting there like I have here. Yes, I’ll keep drawing and painting my little world…it’s beauty is enhanced by the memories of living life fully right here.

One word, TERRIFIC! I really love how the colors blend, and how everything turns out, it’s just so well composed! 🙂 I am still drooling at them, so I don’t really know what to say except that I am totally sold!

Thanks so much Alex for your kind comments! Sometimes magic happens with watercolor, which is why I love it so much. I really appreciate your comments!

Your work is just beautiful – I love how you draw people – something I am working on – the lyrical lines are so beautiful. So glad I found your blog – thank you for commenting on my blog – do you have e-mail – I am not from Winston, but am there very often. Please e-mail me. Thanks! Deborah
