On a Gray Day

On my walk, this drizzly, murky day, I peered into the gray…there really are colors there! What colors? Just grayed-down versions of blue, green, and purple? No, there are also hints of gold and red too!

I saw in the hedgerow a shock of autumn colors…are they not lovely BECAUSE OF the gray surrounding them? Is life like this too?

Do the vibrant colors bleed into the gray,  making even the murkiness sparkle?

Or is it the other way ’round…does the gray invade and dampen the brilliant color?

A case could be made for both…depending on the day.

Now there’s a question to ponder……………..To me it is kind of like, ‘Is the glass half full or half empty?’ I like to think the ‘Murkiness Sparkles’. Loving your blog and paintings as always!

I love this! Now this is as free as the last flower post was complicated! This shows you went with feelings rather than details. Both are nice but I have to admit, this one feels like a breath of fresh air to me. I don’t feel locked in to a particular view that linework gives. I wouldn’t have thought about that before your last post wondering about linework. I know I am a color-first type of person though which probably explains my feelings toward this painting.

    How large is this painting?

Thank you Timaree, as always, for your thoughtful responses! All my drawings/paintings of late are in my 9 x 9 inch Aquabee sketchbook…which makes this little watercolor about 6 x 8 inches. Thanks so much for visiting!
