I don’t think the color has taken over at all. It’s a nice balance. I love the color on the umbrella, vibrant yet still transparent. I find that hard to achieve in my work.
I admire your judicious use of color. Sometimes it needs to be saturated, sometimes simply suggested, and occasionally not at all. You always convey your own vision. As your previous commenter said, it’s a nice balance. I love your work. 🙂
I think you did a great job. It’s obviously a pen and ink drawing with color. There is no right or wrong way to do it but since your picture came out pretty and colorful (and you love color so much) then it’s a success! Forget about some rule that there can only be so much color or it’s no longer a pen and ink drawing!
I am struck by the perspective and depth of this! I love how the umbrella is so in the forefront – that is the beauty of this sketch I think and painting the color in only in bits makes that effect “work” even better – excellent!!!!!!!!
