Directly behind our house is a rhododendron bush. It’s blooming like crazy right now! It’s huge…reaching up beyond our high back deck. As I sat in the yard to draw it, I kept humming and thinking:
The rhodo’s as high as an elephant’s eye…and it looks like it’s climbing clear up to the sky!
Well, it isn’t corn, and this isn’t Oklahoma. It’s Rhododendron in North Carolina. 🙂
Such a happy painting and the comparison with the song made me smile! nancy
Beautiful! love the color palette!
Beautiful. Makes me happy!
I have thoughts like that go through my head too. My family used to say I just lived in lala land. Now they say it must be the artist in me. At least I’ve moved in their estimation from crafter of needed stuff and gifts to artist!
Your picture is lovely and another example of how you don’t have to draw the whole thing! I used to look at a bush and get overwhelmed. I am learning from you and others how to enjoy rather than worry over a drawing! You are such an inspiration.
So lovely 🙂 . Makes me smile.
Sometimes there is so much beauty we have to sing, and smile, and even shout out loud because it makes us happy to be alive! We are so lucky to be able to feel like that! Enjoy your bush and long may the blooms last.
lovely work wonderful use of space too.
Lovely! I could see this one being the print design of drapes, table cloths…and such ^^
What song is that? Did you make it up? Sounds like Dr Seuss :D. Love the page!
It’s from the musical Oklahoma. I think Curly, the main character, sings it.
