How do I describe what spinning means to me? I don’t know that I can, other than to say – I like who I am when I spin. Meditative, soothing, non-critical, free, joy-filled…this is how it feels to spin wool and blends of various fibers.
I spin yarn with a variety of tools. From spindles to wheels, I love to create yarns of all kinds…thin and colorful, thick and juicy, smooth to funky art yarns.
My first wheel was a vintage Louet which I promptly painted as soon as I bought it. It holds a special place in my heart as I can spin any kind of yarn with this wheel. I also have an Ashford Traditional wheel which beautifully spins laceweight to worsted weight yarns.
I adore spinning on spindles…drop spindles, Turkish spindles, supported spindles. My favorite drop spindles are Bosworth and Akerworks. I have several Snyder Turkish spindles, and my Silly Salmon Designs spindles are my favorites among the support spindle family.
