The Only Way

StitchbyStitchGlove

The means for getting anywhere is:

one step at a time

one foot in front of the other

three steps forward, one step back

line upon line

stitch by stitch

stroke after stroke

note by note

There is no other way. There are no shortcuts.

I’m still listening.

“Your place in heaven will seem to be made for you and you alone, because you were made for it — made for it stitch by stitch as a glove is made for a hand.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

Love the picture. The words say to me you are still having lots of pain and slower than desired healing. I sure hope not but if so, I hope and pray God picks up the pace on your healing.

Timaree, I am actually doing very well physically…not much pain at all these days and rejoicing in how well I am feeling like my old self! The crazy thing that happens with each surgery is that it throws me “off my feet”, so to speak. It takes me a while to find my stride again…what do I want to turn my creative hand to, which direction, how am I different, what is it all for? These things can’t be answered in one fell swoop it seems. It takes putting one foot in front of the other in daily tasks, daily sketches, daily knitting, all the while sorting out the foundation. Does this make sense? In time, I hope mill be able to see more clearly in hind sight. But for now, one moment at a time, doing the thing I have at hand to do. In my body I am feeling better than I have in eight months! Thanks, as always, for the ongoing support!

That’s great Jennifer! Finding direction is my ongoing challenge no matter what! Some goals are easy such as needing to make something for a gift but when there is no clear need it becomes much more challenging! Hope you post about what you learn.
