We painted her room.
Purple please she said.
She picked out new bedding.
We rearranged the furniture.
She spent hours setting up her new room.
Close your eyes mom she said
as she led me into her room.
Lovely I said!
Beautifully arranged!
But…
where are all the stuffed animals?
Not a single one.
Anywhere.
<sniff> <sniff>
<sigh>
I used to draw the family of stuffed animals she so carefully arranged at the foot of her bed and on her pillows. Every season she used to change them out, with a few who were her constant companions. None now? π
Middle School here we come!
They grown up so fast… sniff… I hope she didn’t throw them away… save them Mom… your grand children will get a kick out of their Mom’s stuffed animals.
She has them neatly stowed in a bin in her closet. Oh yes, I save the most loved ones! The crazy thing is that I love stuffed animals too and would love to have my favorites on our bed, but I don’t think my husband would like that too much! Tee! Hee!
Sarah hasn’t given hers up yet – every few nights, I have to toss a few extra ones back into the bin, because they take up too much room in her bed. π Tell Maddie it’s beautiful!
I will! I am secretly hoping the stuffed animals will one by one show up again…?? But I am noticing she is a bit like her daddy…doesn’t like clutter!! Aargh!
Best of luck as you enter the next phase. It’s tough!
Thank you Melissa!!
Wonderful poem and deep sentiment of truth!
Lol, I thought you were going to say she’d taken up her mama’s favorite addition of splatters! To her room! I do have a few stuffed animals in a corner of my room – they are frogs or poodles. One is a frog from that store in every mall, Build A Bear with all my grandkids voices on it, each saying “hello Grandma”. Pick a corner and do it. Pile some on a chair or on a corner of a dresser – we only get to live once!
I do have my childhood doll house in our room:). Randy would love for it to be put away, but I want it there!! It holds so much meaning for me.:)
The painting is beautiful and so is the poem. Looks like she’s growing up! *tear tear*
I sure like the confetti color splatters…and stuffed animals sometimes travel to Stuffington by the Seaside….and remember us…
Time for a shelf!
Awwwwww…. I guess they grow up so fast
